Roxanne's 1st Post
I have been thinking about what my self-change goal should be for a while now. I have many things that I need to work on like procrastination, drinking to much soda, staying up to late..and many more. I have decided that while everything I decide revolves around improving my diet and health, I chose to stop eating out or at least minimize the amount of times a week I eat fast food. Due to school and work schedules sometimes I don't have enough time to actually go home and make lunch or dinner and therefore resort to eating out in between my schedules. This is both unhealthy and costly. Even though I do not have the time to make super healthy home cooked meals, I decided I could shop for healthier meals at the grocery store that can be made quickly. My goal is not to lose weight, but to live a healthier life style. Place's like fast food restaurants carry the most unhealthy, greasy foods even if some say they are better than others. This summer I am planning to take a vacation to Las Vegas for my friends 21st birthday and even though people consider me skinny, I am definitely not in shape or toned. This future trip will motivate me to eat healthier so I do not gain the unnecessary body fat that would go to all the wrong places. I would unfortunately have to admit that I eat out once a day and on some occasions twice a day depending on if I have work and school in the same day; this is including weekends. I realize I need to change my eating diet because this is not only embarrassing and costly, but unhealthy. My goal is to minimize or cut out fast food from my diet starting today to improve my overall health.

Hey Roxanne, I guess we’re all focusing on having a healthier lifestyle as for our self change for this assignment! That’s a really good idea on choosing to make better food choices over fast food. I can definitely relate myself to this because I usually turn to fast food for quick and easy meals when I don’t have time to prepare foods myself. One tip I can offer you is to look up fast and easy meals to make that you can find online through the recipe websites. There are actually some things you can make simply in less than an hour instead of indulging oily fast foods.
ReplyDeleteLike my sister, you eat anything but never gain weight! It doesn’t matter though, because the importance is to eat and live healthy. As a team, we can help each other out by watching out on each other if one of us tries to sneak in a Big Mac to class (kidding).
With these changes, we’re able to share our experiences on making time for our self change. I need to make time to be active, while you need to make time to prepare healthier food. I like how we all choose to make a change on our health as our goal that I hope we all achieve and to keeping it that way aside from doing this as a class assignment. If you’re planning to eat healthier, you should follow the Food Guide Pyramid as a guide for you to know how much servings of each food product you should consume in a day (e.g. 2-3 fruits/vegetables servings a day). We will support each other through this self change as a benefit for our team and our lifestyle! ☺ - Tina

ReplyDeleteRoxanne,
ReplyDeleteWe all have a lot of things to work on, but I think you picked a really good goal to stay focused on! You will end up feeling better and more healthy in the end. It is hard because fast food is very convenient, especially in circumstances when we do not have enough time to eat something else.
I can see this goal is going to be hard for you, since you work at a fast food style restaurant. I would find it extremely hard to do, especially when you have to go to work, and the most convenient option is to eat there. I am glad you picked a hard goal to accomplish, and I wish you the best on your slow-food journey!
